Clubs and Societies

We have a strong belief that students should participate in the organisations within the school. Clubs and societies are a huge part of the school and the building of relationships within the school community. Below are just some of the many clubs and societies which operate in the school:

 

AILO PROBLEM SOLVING  Contact Ms  U Byrne if you would like to meet with other problem solvers and solve puzzles using language and logic. Come to Room 14 on Mondays 1:30 - 1:50.  Click here to see sample puzzles

 

BUILD A BANK  Thurdsays 1:20 - 1:50 in the Front Hall. Ms Donnolly is the teacher to contact.


CHOIR The choir meets and rehearses on Mondays from 4:15 - 5:30 in the Music Room (Room 21). Ms Lyons is the teacher who runs the choir.

 

COMPUTER CLUB  Every lunchtime from 1:15 - 1:50 students can go to the Computer Room (Room 28) where they explore the digital world. Ms Mc Hugh is the teacher who runs this club.


DROP EVERYTHING AND READ  Monday and Wednesday 1:05 - 2:00 in Room 11. Ms E Murphy is the teacher involved.

 

GAISCE  This is open to Fourth Year students and the coordinator is Ms O'Looney. Students work towards their Bronze Medal and are involved in areas of Sport, Community,Skill Development and a Venture (Glendalough).

 

GREEN SCHOOLS Our Green Schools working committee is composed primarily of First and Second Years. We meet every Wednesday at lunchtime in room 39 (which is beside the front door) from 1:20 - 1:50. See our noticeboard outside the library for further information. If you are thinking about coming to a meeting you will be very welcome at any stage. You could speak to any member of the committee or one of the three teachers involved, Ms Barett, Ms U Byrne or Ms Flannagan. LEARNING HUB This is open to First Year students. Learning hub takes place every Tuesday from 4 - 5:30. Students can do their homework and study in a relaxed atmosphere, with support from Transition Year students where required. Ms Gillespie the Deputy Principal is the person to contact.

 

LUNCHTIME CLUB This club is open to First Year students. It takes place in the Library on Tuesdays from 1:20 - 1:50. Students play board games, chess etc. The club is organised by Ms Cumiskey.

 

SCIENCE CLUB  Our Science Club meets on Mondays 1:20 - 1:50 in the Demo Room (Room 26) at lunchtime. Members come from all year groups. A science teacher runs the club and students do fun experiments, prepare for competitions and have fun with science. Ms Bradley and Ms Kinsella are the teachers to contact.
