Active School Week

May 14 2017

Presentation College was a hive of activity and participation for the recent Active School Week. In 2012 Presentation College was awarded the Active School Flag from the Department of Education and Skills as recognition of the excellent standard of the Physical Education programme in the school and the wide range of extra-curricular activities that take place in the school for the students.
All Year Groups during the week participated in the “Pres Mile” with some excellent performances from many students. However, participation is always the name of the game and those who crossed the finish line sometime after those first home were also loudly applauded!
A Sixth Year v Rest of the School soccer match and a Sixth Year v Rest of the School rounders match were scheduled as was a Female Teachers v Female Sixth Years Tug of War contest where the teachers were victorious both as a team and in the individual head-to-head with Ms. Maher and Liz Brophy!
Unfortunately the final event of the week, the Sports Day was postponed for a week due to forecasts of heavy rain, which proved accurate, but all participating students had great fun during the week of activities. Special thanks go to the four PE teachers, Ms Kavanagh, Ms Cardiff, Mr McAssey and Mr O’Leary in the PE department for all of their hard work and organisation.
